DEPARTMENTS

Dana Jenei is a senior researcher within the Department for Medieval Art and Architecture of "G. Oprescu" Institute since 2013. She holds a BA from the Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest (the History and Art Theory Department), and a PhD from the same institution, today the National University of Arts, with a thesis on The Gothic Mural Painting from Transylvania. Ensembles from the Fifteenth Century (coordinator: Prof. Corina Popa). From 2011 till 2013 she was a postdoctoral scholar of the Romanian Academy, with a project on Transylvanian Renaissance - Cultural Identity in European Context (coordinator: Acad. Răzvan Theodorescu). Previously she has worked at the Direction of Monuments, Ensembles and Historic Sites in Bucharest and at the Direction for the National Cultural Heritage in Brașov, as an expert in the field of the research and protection of the historical monuments, and as the scientific secretary of the Regional Commission for Historical Monuments in South-East Transylvania in 2002-2006. She has coordinated the ICROM-UNESCO "Western European Medieval Paintings Workshop" held at the Church "on the Hill" in Sighișoara in 1995, on behalf of the Ministry of Culture of Romania. She is specialised in Mediaeval and Renaissance painting in Transylvania.
